I bought these to use with the Paw Legend belly band at night when my dog doesn't go out much. They are not as absorbent as I had hoped and I found I had to use 2 of them at night. In the morning both pads and the belt get wet. They also don't absorb as much moisture as I was hoping, although my dog hasn't had a urinary rash yet. Ordered them almost two years ago when we first adopted our dog. He may never be completely broke, and that solves the problem. I wash them (along with the belt) in a mild soapy solution with bleach. Black streaks don't go away with bleach. You only need a small amount of bleach to remove the smell. Always dry at the lowest possible temperature as this is gentler on the fabric. Fine. I had to buy some disposable pads to put on because they still leaked urine down the sides of my dog's tummy. I finally found that if I walk on it sideways and the sides are hanging down a bit I can put a disposable pad on top for full protection. I was expecting these pads to be much thicker and softer; but ended up fitting my little 10 lb yorkshire terrier perfectly. I decided to fold it in half and place the pad with the rounded corners down so the surface of the pad doesn't bother his skin and leave a rash right on his groin - they're also very absorbent.
