Description of ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ Discover Optimal Performance with Pearl Izumi Men's X-Project 1.0 Cycling Shoe

100% Synthetic. Imported. Synthetic sole. Seamless 9mm second skin upper: the thinnest upper on the market, it adapts comfortably to your unique foot shape to eliminate hot spots and offers superior breathability. Power web: a non-stretch web that easily conforms to your foot, but keeps you bolted to the pedal. Seamless construction in the toe area for no-seam comfort in the flex zone. Bi-Directional closure: delivers a semi-custom fit by gathering equally from both sides for even foot retention, with the precision of a micro-adjustable BOA reel. Run shoe ethylene vinyl acetate foam heel absorbs impact for off-the-bike comfort. Full-length tapered carbon fiber plate (patent-pending) gives on-the bike power transfer and off-the-bike hike-ability. Co-Molded rubber tips on hollow tpu lugs provide traction on an extremely lightweight bottom unit.

Great Shoe!: Cycling

Great Shoe! Very comfortable for me with a size larger than my usual size. Multiple insole and arch options are included, making it easy to customize the fit. The ease of entry and exit and adjustment with the BOA system is exceptional compared to the velcro, laces, buckles etc I have used in the past. The airflow is good and they are comfortable for me even in hot weather. I used to love my Gaerne, Sidi and Shimano shoes but so far these are the best - easy and comfortable.

Pros
  • Bidirectional Closure: Offers a semi-custom fit with the same layout on both sides to keep the foot evenly held with the precision of a micro-adjustable BOA coil
Cons
  • thin

X-Project 1.0 in cycling

After reading all the reviews, I was very scared size 42 would be too small for me. I currently own Nike, Lake and Forte shoes, all in size 42. It seemed impossible for the Japanese manufacturer Pearl Izumi to ruin their high quality product. First, I compared the insoles in the Pearl Izumi to my Forte sneakers and they were identical. Second, I compared the floors and again they turned out to be identical. Third, I put on thin MTB socks and tried Pear Izumis and they fit. Fourth, there wasn'tโ€ฆ

Pros
  • 9mm seamless upper like a second skin: The thinnest upper on the market comfortably fits your unique foot shape, eliminating hot spots and providing excellent breathability
Cons
  • Quality

You can replace your roadie shoes.

Regarding the reviews for running small, I pulled out the insoles (44) - they are exactly the same size as the 44 insole for my Bontrager RXL Carbon MTB and Shimano XC SPD shoes. I have an old pair of Izumi Fuel-M shoes that are also 44 years old and have the same fit. I have narrow feet and there is still a lot of room in the toe area even with a narrow adjustment. Road shoes work differently than high-quality cycling shoes. I wear size 43 in most evening shoes โ€“ street shoes can't be compared

Pros
  • Molded rubber lugs on hollow TPU lugs provide grip on a very light block of ground.
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
