Good shoes for gravel riding, but not for mountain biking

I really like these shoes, they fit true to size and don't take long to break in. There are also models that are stiff enough for good power transmission. The problem is that I bought them to use for both mountain biking and gravel riding and they have no grip for those hiking moments or when you need to get your foot wet. But about great shoes

The best cycling shoes I've ever had!

Super practical! Soft top and hard sole, excellent power transfer to the pedals. I will be ordering a black pair soon. Although I have a hard time finding another white pair in my size (47). I will get another white pair as soon as they become available! These shoes have held up very well after 1500 miles. To be honest I wear this shoe more than any other brand I own.

Pearl Izumi X-Alp Gravel Cycling Shoe

I loved the feel of these shoes - they were buttery soft and extremely light with plenty of room in the toe box. I really liked the white color. Unfortunately I fell between size 40 (a bit short) and size 41 (too long) with this shoe. I wish they were half the size of some other pearls. Please note that I wear a size 41 for Pearls women's shoes (outdoor shoes are usually a size 8.5). I suspect the size difference is because they are based on men's lasts and require a small size for women. Can't

Pros
  • Highly rated by testers for support and durability
Cons
  • Poorly designed

The best cycling shoes for $150!

After ten years of mountain biking, gravel and cyclocross, my old Pearl Izumi Elite MTB II shoes were torn and didn't fit my feet well. So bad that during my last 200km ride I tore the sesamoid bone on the underside of my right leg. Pleased with the fit of the Pearl Izumi shoes (still using 2 pairs of Elite Road II shoes), I checked out the improved and updated version of the Elite MTB II shoes. I knew I didn't want hard carbon soles as the bones in my right foot were in need of healing and I'd
