I bought this more expensive one because he said the performance sounded better. Doesn't measure temperature accurately. He shakes so much. I have a cheaper one and it is very accurate. Its design is annoying because you have to use a screwdriver to get to the battery compartment. Save your money and choose the cheaper option.

Cannot be used outdoors during the day as the screen is backlit and cannot be seen even on a cloudy day. The manual is incorrect and incomplete as it turns off the backlight and you get stuck in calibration. Mode as stated in TD's review of 12/18/19. Once I could see the screen it worked fine until I tried turning off the backlight.

Laser pointer and temperature sensor are NOT aimed at the same target. It reads the temperature accurately, but the red laser dot is about 6 inches above where the device reads the reading. As a maintenance mechanic, if I take the temperature of a steam pipe when two pipes are close together, I'll get temperature readings for the wrong pipe. That's not for me. It went in the trash!

I wrote a negative review after using this meter for calibration. After speaking to tech support I believe the issue has been resolved. If your temperature is not comparable to other devices, adjust valve "E” higher or lower. You need to pull the trigger quickly and then pull again while pressing the center button and "E" will flash and you set that number with the max/min or cf buttons.

Bought this product to assess the current condition of my water heaters in my house, to check that they are working efficiently and to check the seams around them house to determine where there is room for isolation. That works great. With the precision of this gadget I've really been able to get things right and with an 1880's house in Vermont this is certainly essential when trying to stretch the heat.

I've had this thermometer for over a week now. I have used it many times for different purposes, human temperature or for automotive diagnostics. I read in several reviews that the battery compartment requires a small #1 screwdriver, which is required and not included. So it's a flop if you don't already have one. Otherwise I have nothing to complain about in this product. I can only recommend it because of its simple design.

I would have liked this thermometer, but there is a fatal flaw with the hidden calibration menu - you can accidentally get into the calibration menu by holding the trigger and pressing the two buttons on the left simultaneously. DO NOT TRY THIS! Once you get into the calibration menu, your thermometer is effectively locked as you have no instructions or tools to complete the calibration process. This is a really cool infrared device that's as fun as it is functional. I've checked the temp of everything for no need except it's fun. It's also amazingly accurate and precise. Does not work. First, it was foolishly inconvenient to open to insert the battery. Second, it reads the temperature incorrectly. When I finally put the battery in it said my countertop is minus 10 degrees and I found that very strange so I tried it on my forehead and my sisters forehead and it rejected at least 15 degrees for all of us.
