K&N make excellent products and I have used their air filters on my other cars for several years. The intake system is fairly easy to install with basic tools. Sounds great and plays too! The only bad thing I can say is that the instructions that came with it are terrible. It's best to go to the website and watch the installation video for an explanation.

This is not the correct intake manifold for a 5.7 Vortex V8 from 88-98 Silverados or any other square body car. You have to be smart to even stick to it The throttle body and not a cold intake, it's breathing all kinds of hot air from the engine. You pay $300 for the best sound, that's all you get, it's good, anything else is worse than stock.

Ordered and installed on my '99 Suburban K1500 5.7 liter and 249,000 miles. After preparing the box, installation took a little under an hour. Took a test drive and left the track. Throttle response was a big improvement. If you go at 70mph and step on it just a little more you can hear a cool scratchy noise and it jumps to almost 80mph in no time. So impressed with this setup so far. Would recommend to anyone who needs a new life for the engine.

So I ordered mine for the Yukon '97. The one they sent didn't have a hole in the filter where the air sensor goes. I called support and they told me it was an outdated filter and they would quickly replace a new one - haven't received it yet but good customer service anyway. In the meantime I drilled a hole with a 1/2 inch drill and inserted the sensor like this. Definitely helps with pickup - maybe it will help with fuel economy but it's early days - paired with the Magnaflow exhaust it sounds

I bought this filter system for my 98 gmc sle 1500. The filter was well packaged and took about 2 hours to install. It's easy to install, follow the step-by-step guide and you'll be fine. The next day, I loaded a four-wheeler truck into the back of a truck and drove down the freeway at 80 miles per hour. I noticed an immediate increase in performance.
