K&N tops again

K&N products are always of excellent quality and fit perfectly. I've used them on every car I've had for the past 10 years and this one matches the 2016 Nissan Maxima perfectly and I love the performance boost it offers.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • High price

Installs in under an hour

Easy install (YouTube video recommended instead of boxed instructions) in under an hour. Sounds great, in my 2017 Maxima acceleration is like releasing a tiger from a cage. I haven't compared the fuel consumption yet, but I'm generally satisfied with the extra power.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • No instructions

I really like this add-on

If you've read previous reviews don't worry about the heat shield interfering with shifting. K&N fixed this and made a cut on the current unit's heat shield. I installed it myself and everything went very well, I really like this addon. I definitely noticed a difference in performance and I was blown away by the difference in sound.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Compatibility

Installation, Performance and Sound

I didn't have much time for the results of the run but the installation guide doesn't really explain it step by step exactly, I had to install the handset for you. The intake is a bit louder than I expected compared to my friends' brands (Stillen and Injen). In terms of price, it could be a bit cheaper, but it doesn't really bring a lot of horsepower. Basically I am satisfied with the product.

I was trying to install a K&N cold air intake on my new 2016 Nissan Maxima. Care got stuck in the parking lot because the underside of the heat shield was preventing the car from going out of "park". I tried adjusting the height of the heat shield but the result is the same. If you remove the sign, you can go from parking to driving and beyond. The end result is that the machine works well without the shield, but not so well with it. The question is, is it wise to operate a vehicle without a…

2016 Shift Lock

Nissan Maxima 2016 Installation requires many improvements to make it work. When I first installed this I couldn't shift the car anymore, the heat housing was hitting the shifter on top of the engine. I placed extra washers under the heat shield to raise it over the linkage and folded up the outside edge of the shield to ensure the linkage never hits again and I also had to buy some long metric screws to raise the shield. After 2 hours and a few extra parts, the assembly works perfectly. If…

FOR Maxima 2016 *Read this important*

After installing it on my Maxima 2016 I ran into an issue where I couldn't shift. It was difficult to even get it to idle, but not to drive. DO NOT FORCE!. The black heat shield that the inlet tube runs through must be REMOVED. Because of our reason, K&N didn't make the new model fit better and screwed us. This heat shield is too low and causes transmission problems. So remove and everything will be fine. As for that heat shield, the disappointment is that it can't be used. You'll probably have

The instructions are almost useless, misleading and sometimes wrong

If you haven't taken the time to install it before you will probably spend 3-4 hours installing this on your Nissan Maxima 2016-2019 . Instructions are missing, are printed flat and contradict each other. For example, the bracket has a thermal shield that you attached to the top post of the rack. It tells you to attach it to the inside of the heat shield, but later steps show it attached to the outside of the heat shield (which is correct). The rest of the guide is completely useless and…
