Not bad, works well

Not bad, works well. Once you receive this item, discard or sand down the inside edges of this item's black removable cover. I tried to get it out from under the car (unloaded, of course) and fucking cut my fingers.

Pros
  • Done
Cons
  • Not happy with everything

Wilmar Jack 15 " Car Jack

Have used this jack a number of times. Easy and quick to inflate. Not that heavy to carry. Especially for me as I don't have a garage and have to lug it outside to getting my car fixed in my driveway. Hope it lasts as long as my old one. At least a few years. Time will tell.

No problem - tools and equipment

I didn't like it at first. It turned out to be smaller than I thought it would be and the handle isn't permanently attached. After a few uses, I grew to love it. Because it's small it holds up well for me and I didn't mind not attaching the handle to the jack. Also, it's not very difficult to move. The price was right.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Long

Works quite well in garage and workshop

The jack itself appears to be pretty solid and is definitely a huge improvement over the flimsy scissor jacks that come with most cars. My only real complaint is that the casters (smaller wheels that spin) don't roll very well, which doesn't get in the way but makes it difficult to get around. The paint is chipping quite easily - a few pieces have come off where the handle and jack connect - but I'm not sure I can expect more for the price.

Pros
  • handy item
Cons
  • is embarrassing

Good jack, I didn't like a detail

Good little jack, withstands up to 2 tons. Low enough for my VW GTI and high enough to lift my wife's Ford Escape. It feels solid and well designed and I've used it a few times with no issues. The only thing I didn't like is the attached picture. You need a screwdriver to open the safety valve. How difficult would it be to weld on a small handle instead without requiring additional tools to operate the jack? I realize this is probably a security feature, but still.

Cons

works great for garage & shop

Like the other reviewer, I use it for changing the oil (with jack) and changing tires on a small car (Honda Fit). Both this and the Wilmar jacks work as advertised and appear to be very well made. For those who didn't use a jack, when you get one you'll have to unscrew the hydraulic valve a few turns with a screwdriver and swing the handle a few times to distribute the hydraulic fluid. Don't get carried away by the valve or the pump or you will lose fluid. Then pull up the value and pump it up.

Inexpensive jacks

It seems to me that many of the inexpensive jacks for $50-0 are from the same manufacturer. This small jack has a 1-7/8" external jacking platform. I doubt you'll find a lift that small. The lift limit is 15 inches from the floor. I bet a cheap jack with the same lifting capacity will work just as well. (e.g. Goodyear, NAPA, Pittsburgh, Port Freight, etc.). Why spend more than necessary? I would also like to wonder if a hydraulic "bottle jack" with the same lifting capacity as this jack might…

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Long delivery time
