PerTronix 91181 Ignitor Adaptive Cylinder Review

I purchased and installed a PerTronix Ignitor II and Flamethrower II 45,000 volt coil on my 1972 Chevy C10 pickup and noticed a HUGE difference in overall performance. Commissioning is easier and faster; Throttle response throughout the powerband is significantly improved. I was skeptical, but now I'm a firm believer. Ditch the goggles/capacitor system and supply coil and run this one, you won't regret it.

Works fine once I set it up. I would give it five stars but I had trouble setting it up and must have assembled and disassembled it at least a dozen times to get it to spec. I ended up having to remove the transfer case to add another washer. They provide all the parts needed and the instructions are clear but it's still not 100% to spec but still works great with my '57 Chevy.

If you're worried this is going to be a big project, don't be shy, it can easily be done in an hour. My install took 2 days because I decided to take the whole distributor apart and clean, paint and oil the whole block, after 40 years I thought it deserved it. Very poor quality of the magnet sleeve, the magnets are covered with a mylar cover and when heated this cover can crack and the magnets fly into your distributor (see forums and reviews with low stars) (do not remove cover, also not specified in instructions and very confusing).
