No spark, always good for dealers

No spark with the normal stock coil, no spark with the failed Pertronics coil, no spark at all with any coil. Talk to Petronix, send to Petronix, wait for Petronix and wait, wait, wait with no response. Call Petronix, call Petronix, call Petronix, call Petronix and hope hope hope but no answer.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Land Rover 1959 Series 2.

Works great. It has two wires instead of one like the original. My Land Rover ran very rough and I couldn't get the timing right, one of the internal loops holding the front weight springs broke. It was easy to assemble and was very complete. The Land Rover fired up great, drove really well, set the time and it's great.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Lot

Exactly what the doctor ordered!

Last week I replaced a Lucas distributor with this device. Excellent results. The car drives faster than ever before! I have a 1983 HM Ambassador with a petrol engine. Electrical parts are hard to come by, I've been through 2 Lucas TVS dealers (horrible quality, lousy performance) and 6 coils (same) from the same manufacturer in a year. Pertronix distributor and reel seems to be a winning combination! My car is attractive and actually reliable. Thanks very much!

Pros
  • Distributor
Cons
  • So far so good

Key on shaft end WILL NOT FIT A-Series engines

On Sprites, Midgets etc. Wrench will not allow Dist to slide fully into block or yoke. You must use your old dealer's key! In the process, roller pins are pushed out, which is not easy. The diameter of the Pertronix pin is 5/32" but on your old cam it might be 3/16" which means you will have to drill a hole in the new cam. 3/16" shaft and use a new roll pin. On the plus side they work great after that. Just expect it will take a full day and you will need a drill press, roll pin, etc…

Pros
  • Power parts and accessories
Cons
  • Newer model could have been selected

Some modifications required for Lucas 45D-A

This is my first review, I usually don't care. In this case, I was so impressed with the results that I felt like I should have been. I had to make some changes. The key on the shank was set to 59d (super tight slots). I managed to get the key out of the old scam and drill the pin hole a little more. I also had to cut about 1/4 inch off the shaft. It's not Pertronix's fault, it's just the way the sex goes. anyway, after making changes, pair it with a 3 ohm coil, bosh connectors and NGK wires…

Pros
  • Manifolds and Parts
Cons
  • Price
