heater works great, doesn't heat water, just keeps it from freezing. It was a replacement for the one I had destroyed over the summer due to an accidental fire. The cord may last a foot or two, but it works as is.

I have been using this heater in my fountain for a long time. The entire well remains ice-free throughout the winter. This is my 4th and I don't expect more than 2 full winters. When a heater didn't last a season, it was replaced without question. If you are happy with a 2 year lifespan then this heater may be perfect for you.

Time will tell. So far we're happy with how it's working. The only "wish" I have for the product is that the cord is a bit longer and that it only thaws buckets of water. I daresay it heats the water more than necessary so I feel like we are wasting electricity and causing unwanted humidity in the barn.

I bought 3 to use in different water tanks. I have 1 15 gallon chicken tank, 1 50 gallon bull tank and 1 100 gallon heifer water tank. I didn't think this little heater would work, but we needed something to keep the water from freezing. They all worked! The 100-gallon tank had a thin layer of ice around the edges, but my cows broke it off with no problem. The temperature dropped to 6F last night. This morning Andy went out to feed the cows and test their water. Still good and no ice.
