I bought a small for my 25 lb beagle mix but had to trade it in for a medium instead. Beagles have large breasts, so buying clothes and harnesses is always difficult. The small one was a few inches shorter around the chest and the medium one was a few inches taller but we can still use it so we kept it because it's well made and very soft and comfortable.

I originally ordered this item in a medium size based on the sizing description. It was too big (both in length and girth) for my 25-pound crossbreed buddy, even with the shortest straps. I returned medium for small and he was too small (couldn't even fit the straps around his chest with the longest straps). I was traveling when the little one was delivered and the return period had already expired. This product size seems to have some disadvantages to fit all pets.

I already bought the medium size and sent it back because it was too big for our Miniature Schnauzer who is 14lbs. Wednesday is so big, I ordered a small one. It barely fit her chest, and the breastplate covered her entire neck and throat instead of sitting on her chest like it was supposed to.
