I purchased this product to place under a water bottle in a guinea pig cage as I could not find a watertight water bottle. This catches dripping water so it doesn't soak the linens. It connects well with the cage, durable and does not take up much space. If I used it as a food bowl it would work fine. However, I don't think I'll be using one side as a water bowl. The back, which attaches to the strap, is long enough to provide a firm grip; used on 3 different mediums - the point is not that it doesn't FIRST stick, but that it doesn't STAY. I wanted to like it, but turned out I liked the idea more than the actual execution. I use one half for food and one half for water, but when you attach it to the box it tilts forward a little so you can only fill it halfway with water or it will spill. I've also found that water seeps into the food plate if the box is pushed at all (e.g. in the car).
