Better sealing needed - kitchen and bathroom plumbing

It wasn't really easy to install and I ended up having to use an old nut to do it. But no matter what ball I use, it leaks. There should be a rubber washer or something similar. And why does this review sound so dirty?! LAUGH OUT LOUD

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Not a perfect fit - sink and bath drains

Had to go after reviews saying it leaked after installation. I put teflon tape on the stem before putting the ball on the stem, did the same with the other fitting and put it back together and yes it leaks. Went to the hardware store, bought some thread lubricant, lubricated the fitting, used an old nut to attach the ball stem, no leaks this time. Would say it's a bad product unless you change the assembly.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons

Worked great! best in kitchen sink drains

In my apartment, the hardware under the sink was old, rusty and falling apart. So when I wanted to clean the drain and couldn't reassemble it because of the dilapidated condition, I ordered this thing. Let me start by saying that I'm not a plumber. I am a work from home mom on a budget. I was able to install it in less than 10 minutes. No leakage. Thank you!

  • Good thing

  • Hard to say

Absolute rubbish! Suitable for sink and bath drains

I bought this to replace my Moen part as it was rusty. I followed the instructions exactly and put teflon tape on the threads and then placed a ball of the right size on top of the threads. Collected, then checked for leaks. Water still seeps between the threads of the bullet and the shaft. Long story short, I ended up buying the correct piece of Moen from Revain for about $5. What a waste of time and money.

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • Was damaged

Use PTFE thread seal tape to keep it tight

Just wanted to use a new stem/ball with an existing clamp. The ball was the same size as the old one, but the shaft was a little larger in diameter, so I ended up using the new clamp that came with it. A different type of clamp, but works just as well. I used teflon tape on both the ball and the threads of the original piece of plastic that screws onto the drain pipe. It ended up taking me 10 minutes to get the tension to pull/lower the drain like I'm used to.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Not the best

Thread Leaks

Installing this thing isn't as easy as it should be. It was installed relatively quickly, but continued to leak through the threads even after sealing with the supplied adhesive tape. Few disc fittings were unclear and I ended up calling my repairman. He could get a good seal, but then the damn thing came loose. I'm not familiar with this type of fix, but I think adjustable threading, while good in theory, is ultimately a design flaw.

Pros
  • Durable Finish
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Don't waste your money

I expected the replacement to take no more than 20 minutes given the relatively small amount of work involved. Instead I spent 2.5 hours trying all possible combinations of balls of different sizes, with/without seal and thread tape and could not get a 100% result. I used thread tape to stop the water from seeping through the threads, but never managed to stop the leak around the outside of the ball. It drips when the stopper is moved up and down. We strongly recommend finding another brand…

Leaks if installed incorrectly.

I read all the reviews about this leak but ordered it anyway. Of course it leaked. This is probably because the instructions don't specify how to properly install the gasket. After some trial and error I figured it out. The seal should be on the side of the ball that contacts the tube bore. It is located between the ball and the hole of the tube while the flat part is pressed against the hole. The part you screw on contacts the ball directly - with no spacers in between - and screws into the…
