Broke 2 days before date of purchase

Literally 3 days before date of purchase of this DVD player it broke. It makes a whirring/buzzing noise and won't play DVDs. Up to this point it was a decent DVD player although I thought it was very slow compared to every other DVD player I had. I liked that he remembered my place on the DVDs I had recently played. Hopefully the company will honor the one-year warranty. Expected more from a well-known brand.

Blue Red Green Screen of Death! - How to solve this problem

I have been using this player for a year and am very happy with it for the price I paid. But now we have advanced Blu-Ray players. I use an HDMI cable to connect it to my TV, it improves the picture quality by 10x. Last day I saw a red blue green screen and the picture was distorted, I thought it was a broken HDMI cable but it wasn't. All you have to do is unplug the DVD player from the wall, give it a few minutes to restart, plug it back in and you're good to go. I give 3 stars for the quality

I'm surprised!: DVD Player

Didn't expect all the negative reviews. I bought this DVD player about a year ago and have had no problems. It has held up fantastically and really makes a difference when watching my old school DVDs on a 46" HDTV. My favorite feature is that when you pause a movie, the player will go to sleep after about 15 minutes and then turn off to save power. The best part is that when you turn the DVD back on, it picks up where you left off! If I had one complaint it would be that the player doesn't have

Great player especially if you prefer 720p HD TVs

I've used this upconverted DVD player on 720p and 1080p TVs and I can tell you it's an impressive machine is. You'll be pleased with the delay with which the player acknowledges user input (via the remote control) to fast forward or rewind at different speeds. The picture is just fantastic. It's true that newer DVD releases tend to give better results. I was trying to play a DVD I probably bought 5-6 years ago and it didn't look good, but it will look very good for something newer. You can…

New Phillips DVD Player

So I finally decided to buy another DVD player. I wanted a region-free DVD player, but after checking a few well-known models, I settled on the safe and inexpensive option. I have had Philips for 3 years and it has high mileage. What bothered me was that the compartment wouldn't open when the button was pressed and I had to use some manual manipulation to open it. After opening he played. But that's the reason for the upgrade; Afraid of the DVD getting stuck like my old Samsung did. Pros: If…

Excellent PAL/NTSC Upconverting Player

Pros: Can play both NTSC and PAL DVDs. Cannot set a region by setting the region to 0 in the settings menu (see "Other” below). Great pictures from regular DVDs via HDMI (with 1080p upconversion). Connects to TVs old and new with composite, component, HDMI + stereo analog, and coaxial digital audio. There are many options in the menu to set up HDMI video/audio as well as digital and analog video/audio. The firmware is upgradable and can be downloaded from the Philips.Con website: the remote…

I bought this DVD player about a month ago. I only use the HDMI input and have a Yamaha vx465 receiver that allows audio streaming over HDMI. Here's what I think of this unit: + EXCELLENT upconversion. I've played various DVDs and the picture is really excellent, especially considering the price of the device. I have a 32" Sony Bravia XBR9 and the picture is very clear. In fact, I saw the Blu-ray transfer on this player looked worse than the upconverted DVD. + It's incredibly easy to make a…
