Pinepro Pine Derby Kits Wedge Review

We used them for the Pinewood Elementary School Derby! Pros: Excellent quality, perfect size to work with standard derby tracks. Easy construction. Cons: One of our packages did not include a bag of nails. Also, several children with heavy hands had their wheels broken in half when hammered. It would be nice if the kit included an extra set of wheels and nails.

They were used for a bible school vacation boat, despite some bad reviews I decided to give them a try as I needed 50 and the price was much better than anywhere else I found. They worked great! Some of the axles were a little tricky to install and hold, but that's generally the case with these cars, regardless of brand. Very happy with this purchase!

The wooden blocks were well carved and well sanded. My boys found them easier to paint than the cars I've cut myself in the past. Should have been made for fast and light pinewood derby cars. Good price for a pair of pre-made wedges. But 12 hours before the race I opened the wheels (see photo). It looked like a bad joke. The edges are very rough. Many holes are too small and do not rotate around the axes. Also, unlike many other wheels, the area around the axle is recessed and harder to hammer.
