Best double din without fur

Easy to use, as always with Pioneer. Lots of features. Added Maestro for factory integration. The only downside is that BT audio doesn't sound good. But Android Auto and Apple CarPlay sound great. The customer is very satisfied. Paired with Polk Audio mids and highs and a Kicker L7T12 subwoofer.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities

  • Not for everyone

Great update for my 5 year old Pioneer CD headunit

What a great update. This main device is packed with features. I synced to my iPhone, ApplePlay is just amazing! Okay back to radio, HD radio/recommendations/album art and radio stations are awesome! The touch screen is very simple and light. The brightness is just fantastic both in bright sunlight and at night! My head unit hooked up to a standard Toyota truck camera and it's great to use to help you get back on track. Hooked up to my advanced audio system with crossover/amplifier/2x 12"…

Research is required to get Android Auto Wireless working.

Good radio. Works great and is fairly easy to install with the right wiring harness kit and steering wheel adapter for your car. I bought it because I wanted wireless connectivity with Android Auto. That being said, there's a video on the Pioneer website with the Pixel 2 already showing screen sharing settings. I used LG G8. What a learning experience! Two things MUST be done on your phone before it will work wirelessly. Screen sharing must be enabled from the developer menu and mobile data…

OK. A bit disappointing but after some learning it works fine

I bought it after a painful saga with installing a cheap Chinese head unit on Android. At least the dimensions of this HU are good, it fits well in a small space and works great with the Metra mounting bezel. I had a terrible generator hum and tried my best to ground and isolate it. Finally I found a good resistor type noise filter and connected it directly to the fan ground screw on the back of the W4660. This finally fixed it. This device communicates somewhat slowly with Bluetooth. This…

Great screen suitable for car electronics

The glass screen really makes the head unit stand out. The colors are rich and it's so easy to see in the sun. It's tiny, leaving plenty of room for cables and the like. The built-in Alexa seems to be buggy as I can't use the paste function (yet). The sound quality is excellent - I love the Pioneers quality. BUT The downside that almost took me off the rating is the pathetic volume and capacitive buttons. Which idiot decided to get rid of good physical buttons, I don't understand. Luckily, my…

  • Makes me nervous

I recently installed this Pioneer multimedia receiver myself on my 2017 Subaru WRX with basic factory audio. Although it was a complex installation that took almost a day with all the wiring and installation, I was able to keep all the steering wheel controls and the rear view camera with the IDatalink Maestro RR box. My BOM included: 1. Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX2. Metra AX-SUBUSB23 USB adapter. Scosche SU2031B kit with double DIN4 connector. Antenna adapter Metra 40-LX115. Interface module…

Impressive head unit. Please update the firmware immediately.

I installed it a few months ago. It's worth every penny and probably more. Bulk update for my use case. Wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto is a game changer in terms of ergonomics. The less time you spend messing around with Google Maps on your phone, the more time you spend looking down the road. Its ability to pair with a reversing camera makes parallel parking a breeze. Thanks to HD radio support, you don't have to compromise on sound quality. I added a steering wheel control adapter and

I will no longer buy Pioneer products.

This unit is semi-built. The menu, microphone and volume icons on the left do not work. It is not possible to get an update of the migration software using the instructions. Android Auto keeps crashing. If it doesn't crash, it's very uncomfortable to use. There is no instruction manual. When playing music via Bluetooth, you can't fast-forward or fast-forward, whereas on the previous ones I could tap on the timeline to focus where I wanted. USB connection instead of Wi-Fi not working with…

Not done yet - Wireless AA is still buggy

I was drawn to Android Auto's improved wireless support and its compact size. With such a shallow block depth, I was able to install it in my Jeep Renegade using the best install kit to get a stock car look without having to cut through a bunch of plastic in the dash. The device supports iDatalink Maestro which I already had and it was very easy to install. While Android Auto launches quickly and completely by itself (hell Kenwood, can't you already improve that on your devices?), it gets a…
