For a weekend mechanic

Not for professional mechanics. That being said, these wrenches are excellent value for money and will do for a "weekend mechanic". The torque scales are hard to read and don't have the quality of a snap-on torque wrench, but they cost less than 50% the cost of a snap-on wrench set.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Out of fashion

DO NOT BUY ! best in Wrenches

DO NOT BUY! LOTS OF HOT GARBAGE! 0 out of 3 works! They don't even click on the lowest settings, resulting in the screws being overtightened. The locknuts on the bottom of the keys also don't work properly. I didn't know they were Harbor Freight torque wrenches until I received them, opened them up and called the number to complain.

Engraving defective - dimensions are not legible

I bought this set. I used a 1/4" wrench today and found that the key markings on the right hand column are incorrectly stamped for foot pounds and cannot be read. It looks like the engraver/stamp has slipped sideways while engraving the dimensions and the numbers are illegible. I want to return the key for an exchange, but I missed the return deadline. CHECK THE ENGRAVED DIMENSIONS ON THIS ASAP.

Pros
  • Hands free
Cons
  • Clarity

Good torque wrench for the money.

They appear to be very well made and each have a nicely shaped case to house them. The torque value is a little hard to read as they are very small and chrome on chrome. I think if they used some kind of ink for the engraved numbers it would be a lot easier to read the settings. Pros: 1. good torque wrench for the money2. easy to use (when you see the numbers) Cons: 1. the numbers are hard to read as there is no contrasting chrome on the chrome. It would be a lot easier if the numbers wereโ€ฆ

I have a lot of experience with mechanics and I should have avoided that.

Wrenches ARE NOT CALIBRATED. I have a lot of experience with mechanics and should have avoided that "too good to be true" phrase. Shame on me. Please don't repeat the same mistake. I loosened the intake manifold bolt in the cylinder head at 25 ft-lbs. As a test, I put the key on another bolt that could be turned safely - the key never broke off. Check something safe first, e.g. B. a wheel nut. Now to the dealer for parts and work on the machine needed to remove the bolt. Thank you Harborโ€ฆ

Great price but I can't trust them so it's not worth it to me.

I am a certified Airframe and Propulsion Mechanic and purchased these to work on my truck. Replacing the head gasket on a diesel requires a set of torque wrenches and I didn't have a snap-on torque wrench that would fit high enough. I clipped a 1/4" drive key after a few uses and the 3/8" drive click is barely noticeable. The handle moves when you reach the torque, but after a few months of use, the clicking stops. The biggest still seems to work, but since the first two are already broken I'mโ€ฆ

Good for what they are and for casual use.

These are the cheap torque wrenches that you can find on port charters and will save you about $9 buying this set versus buying them individually in the store. They work well if you don't plan on using them that often. When you're done, loosen them so the spring doesn't stretch and they don't lose their strength quickly. Calibration costs more than each button, but you can find video instructions on how to calibrate it yourself. I've used all three and they do their job well, but I don't planโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Power & Hand Tools
Cons
  • Socket Required

Bought these for use in locations where it is difficult to read the scale on a set of bar style torque wrenches that I own. They work great. I have checked their calibration using various methods and am very satisfied for my purposes. I check the calibration about every year with a torque test against my bar wrenches and also with a known weight and math. I test each method at different points in the area of each of the keys. I didn't have to recalibrate the keys as they've been fine since Iโ€ฆ
