Works as hoped, but has a few quirks

Works as expected, but with a quirk or two to be aware of. (FYI, I don't use this for gaming so can't report on it.) Follow the instructions to install the driver and connect the device. If this doesn't work right away, you may need to restart your computer and make sure you don't connect the display port line to the device before the blue light comes on. Functions: 1. When you restart your computer, you need to disconnect the indicator line and then reconnect it to the device when the blue…

Great adapter for business

I have another USB docking station (different brand) at home, so the DisplayLink software is already installed on my laptop. Connected and everything worked without problems. I have a Lenovo T460S with UltraDock that already has 2 1920x1200 monitors. I wanted to add a third 1920x1080 but didn't want to use VGA (not as clear as a digit). This adapter met my needs. I mainly use business apps, but I've also watched full-screen tutorial videos with no lag (I don't play games, so not sure if it's…

does what it promises best in USB to VGA adapters

Key to this product - RELATED EXPECTATIONS Supports only 30Hz at 4K (which the product description states) and even at 30Hz the lag is lag noticeable. However, I have a dual monitor setup and my new laptop only works with one monitor, so the only option is a USB adapter. Something like this should always be a last resort after you've exhausted your other options, but when it's your only option, getting something that just works is a huge relief. My secondary monitor is primarily for storing…

Excels in computer accessories and peripherals

To be honest it exceeded my expectations. I use it to run a 4k monitor at 3840 x 2160 on a 4 year old laptop and it's GREAT. I use a system for business purposes (spreadsheets and software development) and I'm not complaining about the performance - plays Netflix fine in the background if I want to, but I don't do anything graphics-intensive (CAD/gaming) so I can't actually talk about it . Plugable sent an email prior to product arrival with a link to install and contact tech support if needed.

  • Comfortable to use

Surface Book 5 Monitors

I'm having some issues with my Surface Book and Surface Dock with 3 external monitors at 2560 x 1440 resolution. After wrestling with this configuration for many hours, I've made my decision to order this adapter. Drivers, connected and everything works. Also, I can still use the surface screen for four displays. I'll let it run for a while and if it works I'll buy a second one to add another monitor. Great work Pluggable! July 2016 update I went ahead and bought a second one and I've been…

Review Updated 10/12/20

Original Review: Everything has worked well to date. I connected my laptop to the dock (this adapter was connected to the laptop dock for my lenovo t450) and the third display didn't show up. Look at the plug adapter and the indicator is off. Unplug and plug back in, nothing. Plug in my other spare adapter I accidentally bought (HDMI version of the same device) and it turns on right away. Only problem, my monitor is not HDMI! So I lost $80 because I can't get it back now. because you know if it

Does exactly what it says on the tin

First I have to say the product works exactly as advertised and has great responsive customer support. Even on Thanksgiving! In my review I will list the hardware models I own just in case it might help someone else not go through the nightmare I was having. I bought a 27" 4K monitor (ViewSonic VP2780-4K) and was thinking. . Just plug it into my laptop's HDMI port. NO! The graphics card was designed to display 4K on a Toshiba P-70 running Windows They don't support 7 pro though, it even says so

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • weak
