Unreliable Look elsewhere

It was great at first but it's already dead. I bought a 120GB SSD on 04/21. Installed it on my computer and main hard drive only for OS. Set it up for trimming and off you go, the first three months went great. But around August 10th it started throwing errors and crashing on my computer. At first I thought it was the operating system, but after I took it out and tested it on two other machines, it crashed. Even when I tried to download it on my latest computer, it wasn't even recognized in the

Hey man, do you want to speed up your computer?

I am currently using two of these on my computer. One has Windows installed and the other has my program files (games) and the second side file installed. Ideally you have 3 of these things and separate one separately for the paging file. Use the remaining space for things like pictures etc. that you don't need at the same time as games or "photo editing". My current setup is after POST (Power On Self Test) when memory is counted etc. once BIOS is disabled. and Windows starts to load, it takesโ€ฆ

Unreliable - sudden death

FWIW, it's not clear what you're getting in this drive, but a Hardware Secrets review suggests it's an MLC drive, derived from the SF-2241 controller is supported. Since PNY doesn't list any specs they could always pick and change for the past 2 years (UPC on the list has changed so they probably have). Anyway: Bought in 2014, lightweight but recently used as a boot drive in a laptop, repurposed as a file server. It was running 24/7 but was idle as data was being downloaded to/from the external

Easy installation, easy setup, 22 seconds boot time.

Now I'm a firm believer in Solid State Drives. I didn't see what was so great about them until I installed them on my personal rig. I restarted Win 7. It was the fastest OS install I've ever seen, and I've seen several of them because it was part of my job. The deal I got on this drive was great, $60 for a damn fast OS. It installed almost all of my old utilities and programs and it still works great. However, I used about 75% of the 120 GB. But that was to be expected. Unfortunatelyโ€ฆ

Great product - data storage

I originally bought this because it was the best deal I found for an SSD of this size. I had never heard of this brand but I saw good reviews about it so I gave it a try. The box was packaged very well and installation was easy. It actually only has about 110GB of free space, so be careful. I bought this as a second hard drive for my laptop which has two hard drive bays. I only have Windows 8.1 and a few other programs here, and my old 750GB hard drive is now being used for storage. Now I'm Spoiled: Computers and Accessories

Ever since I built my first computer, I've used a hard drive for my operating system. I remember having to turn on the computer and then have enough time to prepare and brew coffee. Now I don't even have time to go to the kitchen and back before the computer turns on. The difference is phenomenal. Of course, I have no idea how fast this SSD compares to others in its category, but it blows all hard drives out of the water. I only wish I could afford a TB SSD. Then I wouldn't worry. UPGRADE TO 1โ€ฆ

Pros
  • Internal Solid State Drives
Cons
  • Security

This is my first experience with a PNY SSD. I've had great success with OCZ, Sandisk, and Kingston SSDs (never had a problem). I put this in a new build with a Gigabyte motherboard and Win 8.1. (This is the 5th PC I've built with an SSD as both the boot and program drives, so I know my way around computers.) And yes, I know how to maintain an SSD (never defrag, never use HD erase) . tools, store most of the data on a second traditional (spinning) hard drive, etc. This PC has had little useโ€ฆ
