🔒 Enhanced Pop & Lock PL1700 Tailgate Lock for Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon Review

I haven't installed this pop and lock in a few weeks and I've only locked it a couple of times and now it's me also stuck because it won't open. I also have a cover so I just can't get to the inner tailgate to remove it.

This piece of crap is very low quality. I have to save myself that because mine was already broken and I had to lower the tailgate. But I'm telling you, go to the OEM! Installing this, I watched the mechanism work as I opened the back door. It bends everywhere. The locking mechanism is also cheap.

Fits and works but cheaply made. It almost feels like the handle will break every time you pull the handle. If you close the tailgate too tightly, the locking mechanism may loosen. This can be fixed with a small modification, but it is very inconvenient. You get what you pay for and I called to return it and spend the extra money to get the parts I needed direct from GM.

The locking part works fine but if you want to open the tailgate normally you have to pull the handle much harder, which is not the case. as smooth as the OEM grip. Sometimes I feel like it breaks as soon as I open the tailgate. The good thing is that you can buy an original keyhole grip and the locking mechanism of this grip fits the original grip exactly. All you have to do is remove a 10mm bolt and move the entire locking mechanism. It's a shame that you can't just buy the locking mechanism…

This seemed like a great product until the little green plastic fitting slipped off when the handle was locked. I had to disassemble the door from the inside. Luckily I managed to get to all the screws, but at worst I could get stuck in the royal family. This is totally unacceptable and makes law enforcement worse than bad. This is the responsibility of security.

Bullshit! Very cheap in every way. This has a major downside as the main locking bar will pop out rendering it useless! The movement unit has a latch on the locking bar to prevent it from popping out. This is not the case - hence the inevitable failure. Almost guaranteed. NO R&D, just "make in China" and sell.
