I have used this product on several occasions on engine components on several classic 1950's Cadillacs. It is suitable for valve covers, blocks, intake valves, water pumps, etc. You can apply it with a brush or spray. I usually spray. When you spray it you can reduce it if you like but there is no need to reduce it much, something like 4 parts paint to 1 part thinner will give you the best flow and still give good coverage with no drips.
