I chose to apply this with a brush although I have had problems with brush marks. In this case, however, the paint was great - it has a fairly high viscosity and mattifies very well, forming a nice thick layer. I have used this product on several occasions on several classic 1950's Cadillac engine components. It is suitable for valve covers, blocks, intake valves, water pumps, etc. You can apply it with a brush or spray. I usually spray. When you spray it you can reduce it if you like but there is no need to reduce it much, something like 4 parts paint to 1 part thinner will give you the best flow and still give good coverage with no drips.
