Sturdy and heavy

I have a 12 year old 333vs that has served me very well on many of my woodworking projects and this 382 is just as well built and reliable as the 333vs. I don't do industrial woodworking, just a hobby: sanding countertops, cabinet sides, countertops, shelves and other small things. I replaced the 8-hole sanding pad with a 5-hole sanding pad (easy to do, just three screws) because I had a sizable stash of different types of Mirka 5-hole sandpaper and it worked really well. Pros
  • Offers maximum sanding speed for smooth finishes
Cons
  • Some bugs

You couldn't give me another

I have an old model like this (333) that finally broke after about 4-5 years of semi-regular use. Pros
  • Dual plane counter
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

It takes ten minutes of work to become a professional tool

I've been a longtime fan of Porter wire tools and this is the first time I've been disappointed with a tool I've owned bought from them. I have owned three 300 series random orbit sanders in the past and they have all worked great, had excellent ergonomics and a great fit and finish. Of course, this grinder works the same as previous models and has two new features that I appreciate: a soft start so it doesn't jump out of my hand when I start it, and an improved spring. Stretched dust bag that…

Pros
  • Provides maximum grinding speed for smooth surfaces
Cons
  • Easily torn
