Expensive own product

A must have for my 2015 BMW R1200GS but VERY expensive like most motorcycle accessories. So far it has worked well charging my iPhone which I have mounted on a RAM mount on the steering wheel. I have a question, why do you need a branded BMW charger? The average consumer doesn't need the extra functionality, and we're all better off using a standard car charger port.

  • price
Cons

45 minutes after the first use stopped working!

I bought this item specifically for a week long bike ride and it stopped working 45 minutes after first use! After repeated attempts, there was nothing I could do to get it working again. Worse, this defect wasn't discovered until 30 days after purchase, leaving me ineligible for a refund. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No performance

DO NOT RECOMMEND - Accessory

Update - I can't use it anymore, stopped working after a month on a trip to the US where I needed it the most. Has not been exposed to rain or moisture and has always been removed and placed in a bag after previous use. Couldn't get it to work, collar extension didn't help. A lot of money for such a short lifespan. Love it, works great and use it to power multiple devices, iPhone etc. Fast delivery and tracking.

Pros
  • Trial year for one year
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

so I would recommend the USB adapter with the best view for one of them - .

I've used it about 5 times since I bought it in May 2016. It no longer worked as described by others here. Accessories" or "Hella" or DIN, so I'd recommend the top rated USB adapter for one of those - this Powerlet brand adapter seems unreliable - that's no coincidence.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Updates

I didn't succeed either. for accessories

It didn't work for me either. Easy to use for iPhone charging - I rarely used both outlets. It's pretty frustrating to have a bad plug in the middle of a 1,600 mile ride and have to find a solution to get your GPS working in the middle of nowhere. I've transitioned from using Powerlet products to having at least one cigarette lighter adapter plug on my bike because that at least allows you to stop at any gas station and get a new USB adapter if something goes wrong.

Pros
  • It's amazing
Cons
  • Some difficulties

worked for a while.

**** Update 04/17/15: Dead. Stops working unless you hold the adapter in the base at a certain angle. Another crappy powerlet product. I am extremely disappointed. I spent a lot of money on the powerlet adapter and installation. It's useless. Works perfectly. The only issue I have is that the light stays on when plugged in. I was hoping I could keep it on if I put my bike somewhere safe. Powerlet's Lightning cable is a waste of money. Get this and the short 6" Lightning cable separately.

Pros
  • A bunch of positive emotions
Cons
  • Bad instructions

Not suitable for 2014 Ducati Multistrada

This is a great adapter with incredible quality from Powerlet that I loved using in my 2014 Ducati Multistrada. Before buying this adapter I checked if it should be compatible with Ducati bikes. The physical connection is too weak and unreliable. There is no way to use it when riding a bike. It turns off very easily. I went to my local Ducati dealer and tried another adapter from Powerlet (Powerlet to SAE connector) and it's the same problem. Not secure at all. We tried the Triumph bike and it…

Failed me TWICE. I would avoid it if I were you.

I don't like bad reviews. but I had a little history with this topic. I bought one of these from BigSky and it worked for the first 34 days on my R1200RT (I've used this item 5-6 times). I liked this item and it worked adequately to keep my iPhone6 charged. Then about 45 days later I use it and it won't turn on. I was unable to return to the retailer as my 30 day return policy had expired. I contacted the company and they were happy to send me a new item. Packed and sent back, I waited 2-3…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Expensive

Good for my needs like charging my iPhone or Sena BT and powering/running a Garmin GPS. It also works well with other products from Sena, Bad Elf, and Samsung. I suppose it would be fine with any USB. Currently use it for BMW GS and original Canbus equipped sockets. Were the spade pins that needed to be pushed out a bit to give them more confidence in the plug when I got it. Everything else is fine, it's a reliable long-running favorite. It appears to be waterproof with no cables attached to…

  • Everything is fine!
