Excellent Coverage - AV Accessory

I have a 6 element Browning Yagi antenna and this antenna gives a longer range. The antenna is only five feet above my roof and I can easily reach the repeater 60 miles away with ten watts of power. I can even hear the control tower of a small airport 45 miles away. Excellent coverage, low price. I highly recommend this antenna.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Very important! in antennas

I wanted to set up something cheap for my first base station. This is a temporary thing on a tripod in a rented house. I got an SWR of less than 1.5 on 2m and 70cm right out of the box. In fact, the SWR is under 2 up to the GMRS and MURS bands, so it's a much wider range than advertised. Very happy with it!

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • No instructions

Perfect/Quality Ham Radio Antenna 2/440

This is well made / seems to use exactly the same mounting hardware / antenna design as top end antennas of the same type / bands (of which I have two) but this tram is half the price! Next thing I need I will buy again. I recommend this tram to all my amateur radio friends.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Damaged

I'm a fan of TRAM audio and video accessories

I have been a radio amateur for over 20 years and have purchased Comet, Diamond and Tram antennas. I found the tram to be better because: 1.) everything needed for installation is included; 2.) I get a constant SWR of 1.2 to 1.3 from each of the four trams I use; 3.) They are durable and survive the salty weather of the Puget Sound without corrosion, which is a testament to the quality; AND4.) They cost less. 73s

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • When in doubt

Looks like a good antenna

Just need a small antenna for use on the Echolink Remote/Management Station to set up a local repeater 14 miles away. With an output power of 5W, this antenna transmits/receives very well with no loss of sensitivity from another antenna 20 feet above using the same frequency. I found the price a bit high as Tram sells a 10 inch dual band antenna which sells for less. In general I am 100% satisfied.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Good for 2M - not yet tested for 70cm.

Roof mount powered by Kenwood TM-255A. Easy to assemble - and (because the antenna is small) should be able to withstand any wind that might be around. The SWR is very flat on the 2m band, I also run CW at the very bottom of the band and FM phon. I can hit the furthest repeater here with 5 watts - can't be beat at all with a handheld! The review will be updated as I check 70cm and will try a scanner as well - Fire is still running at around 150MHz and some public services are still running at…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Quality

Very easy to assemble.

Looks very solid and well made. Works perfectly. Update: I decided to move the antenna after 3 months of use and one of the nuts was rubbing on the threads. The threaded rod came loose with very little effort (pathetic, lean metric crap). I drilled a little more holes to fit the 2" muffler fork and now the fork is as strong as it always should have been. The antenna still works great. Now it's even better when it's higher in the air.

Pros
  • 3.5 dBd actual VHF gain and 6 dBd actual UHF gain
Cons
  • Not sure

Superior performance for audio and video accessories

As with all TRAM products, I had pretty high expectations for this antenna. I live in a HOA so this solution should have been in the attic. I placed it in the attic, attached to a 2 foot long 1 1/4" PVC. It in turn rests on a 27 pound umbrella stand. It is used for a GMRS base station. The 50 foot RG8X works with the radio i have SWR 1.4 on all channels the reception seems to be nominal and i get the range i need and expect from this setup.

Pros
  • Pre-configured
Cons
  • Security

Ideal for hams, but not for GMRS

Rating changed due to errors in the original test. Excellent antenna. I did a frequency sweep and gain test. VHF SWR is less than 1.5 from 144MHz to 148MHz and UHF SWR is less than 1.5 from 420MHz to 460. Gain is 3.5dBd (5.6dBi) VHF and 6dBd (8, 1dBi) UHF. GMRS performance was poor. But it is not sold as a GMRS antenna. If you want a good performer that includes GMRS I would suggest one of these: 1 Installed on a mirror mount: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EXIFYCI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_tit…

Pros
  • One-piece
Cons
  • Discontinued model
