Description of ๐Ÿ’ช Silver 1/2-inch Drive Split Beam Torque Wrench with Flex Head by Precision Instruments - PREC3FR250F

Nickel/Chrome finish with ergonomic grip. Tool does not have to be 'turned down' after use, providing convenience. The length also provides the needed reach for those-hard-to-get-at places. Torque setting locks on adjustable wrenches for repetitive applications. Adjustment knob eliminates spring tension, so setting torque on adjustable wrenches is fast and easy.

Buy Torque Split Beam

I used it professionally when I was 20 years old. God I miss those days. I keep my wife's car, my mother-in-law's car, my son's car and my car. Oil changes, alternators, control levers, brakes, tire changes, etc. It looks and feels like the snap-on I've used in the past. I read somewhere that this company makes them for other tool vendors. I've brought it with me every time I take a tire down for service or repair, I don't have to use the digital adapter I use. Which I received from Harborโ€ฆ

Excellent Quality, Value

I have 10 torque wrenches and a whole box of torque bars. Eight of these are made with precision tooling (torque range is 1 ft-lb to 600 ft-lb), and they're every bit as good as my Snap-On (formerly made by Precision Instruments I believe) and Matco digital torque wrenches, which cost a lot. hundreds more dollars. Of the eight Precision Instruments buttons, I have recently calibrated six, and all of them do not meet the manufacturer's specifications (claims). Just used this 1/2" drive, Splitโ€ฆ

Very nice and high quality hand tool, but I couldn't make full use of it!

I managed to tighten my '02 Camaro SS intake manifold which required 44 in/lb of torque on 1st and 89 in/lb on 2nd pass to match factory specs after removal . able to work in ft/lbs and i spent my time buying it and then returning it a month later, by the way i ended up doing the spec BY FEEL BY MANUAL because i am so gifted and my baby roars again without problems! Separately thanks to this this instrument was of very high quality and came in a hard plastic case with instructions and was alsoโ€ฆ

My friend has the same clip-on torque wrench and I really wanted one

My friend has the same clip-on torque wrench and I really wanted one. But I couldn't justify paying over 350 for one. After reading another review I found this accuracy for $140 and bought it locally. In general I am satisfied, but I had to clean and adjust the torque. It was pretty easy. When I first received it, there was small black deposits on the dial. So I removed the blue pin and gently blew air on the dial until they were all gone. Second, the transparent slopes move up and down a bitโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

This is the best 1/2 inch drive torque wrench I have ever owned. I have a Precision Instruments torque comparator that I use regularly to check the accuracy of my torque wrenches. The key is significantly more accurate than the 4% accuracy claimed by PI. Time will tell how PI's split beam design maintains its accuracy over the long term compared to other types of torque wrenches. These keys hold their accuracy very well over the years (I'll provide future updates when I've racked up a fewโ€ฆ

Good reliable wrench for the money

Overall this is a very handy torque wrench, mainly due to its reliable accuracy and affordable price. No one torque wrench fits all, and there are many different designs to best suit specific jobs and personal preferences. For example. shorter or longer, fixed or flexible head, direct reading or signal, reversible, etc. I have several different torque wrenches including some of the latest snap-on TechAngle models, some types of direct reading bars, and several Tohnichi scale types (but nothingโ€ฆ
