Nice tool but when measuring tire tread depth I see no reason why I should try to figure out what 21 /128 should be on the 32nd.

There is one big number and three small numbers. weird, i don't like it. I work and think in thousandths of an inch, I want the three thousandth digit to be big and the 0 or 5 for the tenth digit to be small or nothing. The manometer has an accuracy of one to two thousandths, which is more than enough. The mechanical zero stop is offset by 0.005, but if you have something really flat it's easy to install.

In the USA, thread depth is measured in 32nds of an inch. I bought this device because it promised fractional reading. What he does. That's good news. The bad news is that it reads fractions with an accuracy of 128 inches. So the display can show the 128th. 64th, 32nd, 16th, 8th and 4th. I don't have much trouble switching 4s, 8s and 16s to 32s in my head, but for some reason my 15 watt brain has to stop and THINK when I'm 64s and 128s should make -e. He just turned 32. Spring.

Great product and works as expected. A must have if, like me, you're concerned about tire wear on your vehicles. It is accurate and displays fractions and decimals. There's only one thing I would change, I want you to be able to pick a specific fraction (e.g. 32nd) and get the readings listed there. To give some background I work as a technician at Ford and was really looking forward to receiving my new toy. As part of the inspection we offer for each car, I have to measure the profile of the tires and this cool gadget really caught my attention. The element shows an incorrect tread number, turns on by simply moving it which means I have to isolate it in my toolbox if I want it to work properly, and it shows trade depth in larger functions than 1/32 which I think is for a one time accuracy
