I tried to repair my old starter with a new magnet etc but it didn't last long. This new starter worked flawlessly from the start. It appears that the old starter's teeth were worn out and not fully engaged. This starter arrived two days later.

The starter worked well when it was new but after a month it started to slow down and smelled like burnt wires. I replaced all the wires and the battery thinking that might be the problem but the starter continued to deteriorate. I ordered a replacement that was installed about a month ago and does exactly the same thing.

I bought it back in December 2015 (now June 2017) and it still works. I drive my Samurai several times a week and live in the Bahamas where salt and coral dust ravage the air. Everything rusts here and nothing lasts. This starter has lasted surprisingly long so far. I recently had to take it off for a gearbox change and thought it still looked fairly new. Neither bolts nor nuts rusted at all, although the entire lower part of the samurai looks like a lump of rusty metal. Can't recommend enough!
