The item is defective. This is inaccurate and gives both false positives and false negatives. I bought a pair of moissanite earrings and a moissanite ring to test this device. This consistently tests moissanite items as diamonds. When I try to calibrate a moissanite ring/earring device, real diamonds are tested as either diamond or moissanite. This is contradictory and after some testing we are back to testing moissanite as a diamond. Disappointed and returned.

This block showed very unstable results when testing the same stone. We tried cleaning the head and surface of the stone, but the same stone continued to be tested as diamond or moissanite. Sometimes diamonds were tested as moissanites and moissanites as diamonds. This is disappointing, especially for a well-known branded product. When dealing with jewelry, it is extremely important to accurately identify diamonds and moissanite, which is why we returned this unit.
