Durable White Plastic Closet Pole Sockets - PRIME-LINE N 6568, 1-3/8 in. Review

I used these as a permanent solution to those twisted shower curtain rods that eventually fall off. A friend fixed them in my tile with stainless steel screws. I lengthened the rod to fit these holders. No more beating on my head.

I was renovating a friend's apartment and found the perfect solution to permanently repair a damaged wall where the tenants had dropped a shower curtain rod. After repairing and repainting the wall, I mount it left and right and mount the bar. The first few of these worked exactly as I had hoped. I've even done this with my own bath/shower. To attempt.

The one screw that came with it didn't work. I put the dowel in and then hung the clothes. About ten minutes later we heard a crash in the toilet. When I looked, the bushing had just disengaged from the screw and the dowel had fallen off. I then used a large washer and reinstalled the socket and it has held up so far. If I were to buy another, it wouldn't be plastic. Take wood or steel and be safe.

I bought 4 sets of these instead of wood in my closets. The half-cup side folds in at the edges when items are too heavy for it, which is never the case with the wooden style. The plastic is too flimsy and flimsy to hold anything substantial - and I'm talking ordinary dresses, coats, etc, the same things that originally hung in the closet. They had only been there a few hours when I realized they wouldn't be working. And there is no way to return them since they were an additional item.

Must check the included weight. I've replaced them several times, the plastic can tear from the screws and the weight of the clothing attached to them. I had to make sure it was tight for it to work (the stem is pressed tightly against the mounting plate). Check this weight and make sure it is tight. If the bar itself is too long, some support arms may need to be installed to extend the service life. Another option is to attach it through the plate with additional bolts and nuts.

It was as advertised and worked great to replace my broken plastic piece at the end of my closet. Since I was only using it to replace an existing broken part I didn't have to use the screws included in this kit and just reused the old screw that was there previously. The screws provided were a bit shorter/smaller than the old ones I had previously installed in my closet so it's a good thing I saved them for reuse as the smaller screws wouldn't work. As previously mentioned, these plastic brackets are not designed to support the weight of closet rails with clothing hanging from them. These are not "heavyweights", so it is better to use rod holders made of wood or metal. They are great for holding shower curtain rods with just the shower curtain and maybe a few towels draped over the rod. Also, remember that size matters! It took me 10 years to finally put a curtain between the master bedroom and the master bathroom. Wow, easy to install. Use a level to make sure both ends are even.
