EASY INSTALLATION – With a closer and plastic slide plate being surface mounted, installation is a breeze. This spring door closer can be used on doors up to 150 lbs and can be used on both left and right-handed doors. Easily adjust the tension on this safety spring door closer. INSTALLATION NOTES - To prevent over-tensioning, adjust closer one quarter turn at a time and test door after each adjustment. Over-tensioning can cause spring to buckle. If you wish to add additional lubricant to unit, carefully disassemble unit after relieving tension and apply white lithium grease directly to the springs. PRODUCT INFO - This safety spring door closer features a non-handed design and White painted finish to complement any style door. 1” wide base, 4-1/4” hole center spacing and 4-3/4” arm. These door closers are only designed to be use on interior doors less than 150 pounds.

Very high quality finish, the springs are not old, not rusty and not cheap (see photo)

I decided to write a review about it and solve the problem that people are talking about. Pros: Much smaller than expected, good construction, no plastic in the mechanism (two small exceptions: plugs that you put in after adjustment, which are purely cosmetic, and a slider that attaches to the door, which I prefer plastic ). ) Powerful Good long screws are supplied which is important as there is little stress on it and it needs a firm grip Minus I don't like drilling the door gap but it's a…

Works fine for me but there are some caveats.

Difficult installation. I believe that my situation is the same that anyone can face. The wooden frame of the steel door is about two inches from the nearest jamb. The holes in the closer are not spaced so it works without any modifications. I had to cut out the molding and then shape the base to bridge the gap. I then had to screw this base to the stud and door frame so there was no air gap. I wanted the closer to have enough spring tension to close the door just enough for my dog to push it…

Needs adjustment

I thought everything was fine but after a few days I found that the spring tension was loose. Then I adjusted by moving the rod another notch. A few days later I had to do it again because the air pressure differences didn't give a positive conclusion. Don't lose the little chrome handle either. I left it next to the long white handle on the first hole so as not to lose it. Standing in the hallway, so not very conspicuous. This item was purchased to close a bedroom door that slides easily on the bedroom carpet. Depending on the level of resistance, it takes about 7-8 pounds of force to close (light pressure).
