Nice sound quality.

Beautiful, simple design combined with rich, warm vinyl sound. If you already have a quality setup, this is your dessert. Bravo!

You have to hear it to believe it!

I never heard what my turntable and cartridge (Ortofon 2M Black) were capable of until I bought this preamp. Listening to vinyl has reached a whole new level. I highly recommend.

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Tubes are best

A big improvement over the phono stage that came built into my Onkyo amp. My vinyl records sound fantastic and will sound even better after the tubes have been on them for a few hours. A bit pricey, but as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for". There are cheaper phono amplifiers out there and there are much more expensive ones, for the money this is a very good audiophile quality unit.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Huge improvement over Tube DS Original

MUCH easier to dial with all controls on the front compared to the jumpers on the originals. And AMAZINGLY quiet because there's a tube in there somewhere if not the main circuit. A nice 8 dB quieter than my Musical Fidelity MX-VynL underneath it, it switched to the same circuit. Possible issue; I can't help but think the resistance scale is wrong as the same MC reference carts and charts I keep here are used to require say 150 ohm loads on the Tube DS register almost twice as much, to achieve…

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Requires power outlet

Very nice tube sound with many adjustment options

This is a really nice phono stage. It's a hybrid, so not just tubes, but the tubes have a big impact on the sound. It's smooth and has an expansive soundstage. Voices and instruments sound far more natural than any solid state phono stage I've ever heard, and I've had a few solid state phono stages that cost more than the Tube Box DS2. Sound with many setting options. I usually use MM carriages and this block allows 4 input capacitance settings - 0pF, 100pF, 220pF, 320pF (all plus the 47pF of…
