Great bottle cages the best in the sport

I have been using these bottle cages for about 20 years now. Very durable and pretty safe. Moderately easy. I can't imagine paying $75 for a carbon fiber cage. I prefer black, but I bought some white ones for a new bike (and they were cheaper). When I'm looking for a cage, I generally look for them first. TIP: If you tear the rubber bands, one of the bicycle inner tubes will do.

Fragile plastic and non-standard bolts

I had to go to the hardware store to buy new bolts, the standard bolts on the bike didn't work with this one. Seriously, like other reviewers have said, turn the screws! Also, the plastic tab broke off the first time I used it. Literally for the first time. Two starts just because he's still doing his job with a broken part (maybe because of his placement on the bike.

  • Annual trial period

Great value for money in a secure bottle cage.

I use these on my behind the seat bottle cage where bottle dropping can be a problem as the bottle cages don't snap securely. They are very light and cost a fraction of the cost of the carbon frames custom made behind the seat. They seem to lose some traction after a few years, but regular replacement on the rear docking points is still a steal compared to other options.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Some issues

The only bottle cage I use is

. I've been using these Kages for years, mostly on road bikes. They are light, strong, inexpensive and hold standard bottles securely. I've had the same pair of Kages on one of my bikes for at least 15 years and have never lost a bottle. Unless you ride off-road, you can do without the rubber O-ring around the top of the Kage, which can hold the bottle too tight. I would not buy another cage.

50% defective sporting goods

I LOVE! This cage is for water bottles. It's on all my bikes (+4) where I don't care about aero. All the models I bought from 4 to 6 come to me with a 50% deformation. That means more than half of them were ugly, shitty. I'm like MacGyver. I fixed them with a heat gun by bending them so that they are round and the surfaces meet. All is well after spending my time fixing the plastic. Poor quality crap! Great design. Buy them if you have the patience to fix them with a heat gun. OR find another…

Have used them for decades without changing planes

Still my favorite. Holds bottles securely. I use Zefal Magnum bottles and they work great with this cage. The cage is clean, at least with these bottles. As long as Profile Design makes these bottle cages I will continue to buy them. I don't know how old my oldest is. Fifteen years? twenty? More? I haven't had a single failure yet. If the old ones never fail, why buy new ones? Because every now and then I buy new bikes and starting a new bike with old accessories just seems inappropriate.

Pros
  • good stuff
Cons
  • Obsolete model

A great application of modern materials to a traditional object.

Bottle holders have been around forever? I had a steel wire cage with a plastic bottle on a Crescent bike I owned in the 1970's and even then it was an old design. I bought a used Pugsley last year and the previous owner already installed one of these. I decided that the second Kage would be suitable for long journeys. I like the modern design and the light but very robust construction. Whatever plastic-resin composite it is, it feels indestructible, like a G-Shock watch, or maybe one of those…

Too many bottles lost. I would avoid this product.

I bought a dual saddle mount water bottle cage from ProfileDesign. My legs are turned out a bit so I can't put the cage on the seat tube. During the months that I ride here in Northern California, I do a lot of solo 100 mile trips. I need at least an extra bottle, and a third is good insurance on those hot climbs. I usually use 26 ounce bottles (maybe I should stick to 20?) and I lose them a lot. It got to the point where I put shock cable retainers on them, which work well enough until the…
