A ball joint is an enclosed spherical bearing that connects the control arm to the steering knuckle or spindle - it is a ball-and-socket design, just like your hip, and it needs to be replaced as it wears out. Better Hardware, Better Geometry

Proforged High Ball Joints are factory style ball joints that are only 1/2 inch longer and much more massive. They bolt on like the factory model, but with improved geometry. I've had them for almost 2 years and several hundred miles with only positive results and no side issues. I would have no hesitation in doing this as one of my first upgrades to an old GM A body.
