Hit the mole, er.Piston

Okay, I filed off a few small burrs and used them confidently, worked perfectly, went through 24 pistons so far, got one.

Do not buy this tool. Choose a quality like ARP which I ended up buying.

This does not work as I expected. I spent hours trying to figure out why the pistons wouldn't go into my engine. It turned out to be the tool. I had another ring compressor and everything came together easily. Because of this tool I had to buy another set of rings as the thin oil scraper rings loosened a bit before entering the cylinder and bent as a result (either the tool opens up a bit at the bottom or it's more than 4" which he says is ).

Scrap metal is the best in pistons and parts

This thing is absolute junk, won't fit a 4 inch piston if you try to fit it in it. Has tons of burrs and scraper rings sticking. NOT only that, but it's not round. Very very bad quality. Don't skimp and just get an ARP compressor.

Pros
  • Rings
Cons
  • Will do

Great tool, poor quality control, decent price

Gave 4 stars because it worked so well compared to the old compressor with hose clamps BUT had two severe burrs on the inside bottom that should have been removed and prior to use mixed. Without the bugs I would have given 5 stars. It was SO EASY to install pistons on my '68 Ford 289 with this tool!

Pros
  • piston and parts
Cons

At first I thought it was a bad product and filed a return with Revain

At first I thought it was a bad product and filed a return with Revain. I called a friend who was an engine builder and asked if he could borrow his V-ring compressor. I told him about the problem I was having with it and he was quick to tell me that it doesn't fit on the cylinder but is aligned with the cylinder. All 8 pistons used without problems. This is a very good product.

Pros
  • Engines and engine parts
Cons
  • Some difficulties
