While this lubricates the chain well and lasts longer than standard ProGold, it quickly becomes thick and greasy, making chain cleaning a chore. While the standard ProGold only works well for around 25-35 miles, it collects a lot less dirt and is easy to clean. So if you don't normally take long rides or don't want to clean your chain often, stick with the stock ProGold which is excellent.

I have been using the Extreme version of this grease for several years now. You have to apply very often, after riding after a simple wipe of the chain. Do not apply immediately before a ride. I now live in a very dusty and dry area and the chain stays remarkably clean with a bit of tarnish that needs to be scraped off the road wheels from time to time. I've been using it for many years. I recently stumbled across this to try Squirt and was very disappointed. I returned to ProGold Xtreme with open arms and stopped looking for a better lube. I love this stuff. I've been using the regular version of this lube for the last year after switching from Purple Extreme after switching on my LBS.
