Good body, bad rivets

I've been using these knee pads daily at work for a few months and they do the job but are starting to fall apart. One of the rivets holding the outer shell to the nylon core has come loose. It's okay, but if more fails, these things will be useless. To be honest, I mostly crawl on the ceiling for a living, which is why I got rid of my knee pads. Also, the straps are a bit uncomfortable if worn for more than a few hours. Regardless, this is my first pair of hard knee pads and I can safely say I

Pros
  • Ergonomic supports
Cons
  • No instructions

On first use one of the hinge screws fell out while crawling through my attic. BAD first impression. It was possible to replace it with a similar screw and thread lock. I checked another block, the screw in the same place was also loosened. I also used screw lock. Elastic bands should be made of a more durable heavy material. On my knee I can't sew to tighten them properly to keep them in place. Very hard plastic case, the new one is very slippery. I think I might try gluing a piece of leatherโ€ฆ

As a result, they slipped off my shins a bit, so they had to be adjusted very often. I've tried fixing it by tying the straps but to no great extent. I'm a 6ft 200lb guy, pretty average in the business. Durability They appear to be very durable, which is mostly true. I had a bad rivet that caused the moldedโ€ฆ
