Disappointed. Installed a microwave in the kitchen and used it to find bobby pins. Came upon two that appeared to be too close together and luckily they had photos of the assembly to see if it was indeed a stud. I've tried so many cheap "deep scan" pocket electronic needle finders over the years and none of them have definitely found a thorn. This is my 5th spike finder and my favorite so far. It feels very deep and the multiple LEDs give a great idea of what's underneath compared to other spike finders with a single hot/cold sensor. It's also nice to have a spirit level, ruler and pencil. A small drawback is the uncomfortable horizontal position of the handle. As much as I wished this thorn finder worked well and was willing to pay a higher price if it worked the product did not work as described. I've had a few nail finders over the years and even started "tapping" drywall to find the nail my dad taught me. But by far this is the best spike finder I have ever used and owned. It was really accurate. I even tested it in my basement where it is unfinished except for one section where I only have a sheet of drywall around. Love this thing. I have had 2 Cubic Zirconia Spike Finder in the past. I still have them and they work. However, they are slow. Press the button, scan, repeat 3-4 times to check the side or edge of the stud. This tool is a whole different experience. The pin is marked with LEDs. Usually 2-3 LEDs signal a hairpin bend. Hover the tool over the stud and the LEDs will light up instantly. Enormous time savings. I bought this tool hoping it would save my hand when working on my head. And so it was. I
