The best caliper I've ever had!

Reluctantly replaced my old digital caliper because the battery cover broke, best thing that could have happened! The new IP54 digital caliper is 2 inches longer (8 inches), has metric, inch and fractional measurements (instant conversion), auto on/off, all metal and moisture resistant. This is the best digital caliper I have ever owned. Very good value for money and easy to read display I like that the battery compartment is secured with a screw.

Too much play in the slider makes accurate and repeatable measurements impossible

All aspects of the IP54 design that were advertised sounded good and were delivered. Unfortunately, the marketing information fails to mention one of the most critical aspects of this gauge - the clearance between the slider and the base vernier. With a fixed size, the wobbling of the two elements creates a measurement difference on the display of up to 0.03 mm. I would not recommend this device to anyone who expects accurate and reproducible measurements every time.

You can feel the high quality of the calipers.

I bought these to replace the Harbor Freight calipers (P/N 63711) that I left with a friend in another city. Ever since Harbor Freight raised prices and got rid of coupons, it's not cheap to buy the same items, so I thought I'd keep an eye on them. I also went for something a little more upscale as I regularly use calipers in 3D modelling, home/car improvement projects etc and eventually settled on them.
