Description of ProTaper SELA MX ๐Ÿš€ Hole Shot Device Self-Engaged Launch Assist

With its patent-pending self-engaged twist dial, ProTaper's revolutionary Self-Engaged Launch Assist (SELA) can be easily set without any assistance, giving riders the freedom to practice starts and line up for races by themselves. During start, SELA makes it possible to temporarily compress the motorcycle's front suspension, reducing its tendency to wheelie under acceleration. This optimizes rear wheel traction, allowing the rider to be more aggressive with the throttle and launch down the start straight with greater control. Dual-hinged receiver ring makes for quick and convenient installation without removing the front wheel or fork. Unique, single-SKU design allows for installation on most full-size, late-model motocross bikes.

Great innovative device for moto guys!

Easy to install and even easier to use. Most of the time I ride in a one-man team, so I can set up my own shooting device right at the gate.

Poor quality forks

Did not unlock and ripped off the protection of the fork. The latch on the fork leg itself had worn away, leaving it almost in need of gripping and constant adjustment. Will not buy again and will not work again after this experience.

Pros
  • Forks
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Great concept. Low quality.

Two screws were loosened in the device, which damaged the fork tube. The first time I attributed it to a possible installation error. I had to buy a new fork guard to put it back on. The second time I tore a piece out of the fork tube. Sent back!

Pros
  • Motorcycles and weight training
Cons
  • Largely ok, but...

Ripped from the guard. best in parts

After about 5 races the fork guard ripped off my 2010 crf450r. I noticed uneven wear from rubbing against the device. The installation was not easy to meet the required specifications. Someone should sell pre-drilled fork guards for this unit.

Pros
  • Forks and Accessories
Cons
  • Commercial Availability

Don't buy for parts

Cool idea, but not for motocross. I strongly recommend taking a regular one. When installed, the handle fell off on the first ride. Couldn't even use it. There are no installation problems. You can see the base is still installed but the handle just fell off and is 100% unusable. Now I'm trying to return it.
