First of all I am very impressed with the image quality of this lens. Very sharp in all areas. It is a DA-L lens which stands for LOWER LENS and is made of PLASTIC. If you want metal at a higher price, get the DA version of this lens (not to mention the plastic lens sucks, I prefer lighter plastic and a great price). I'm not a professional photographer, but I know good glass when I see it and this lens is good glass. At 300mm it is capable of producing crisp images with a bokeh effect. As mentioned in other reviews it doesn't come with a hood which is quite unfortunate but with the money you save buying a DA-L over a DA you can easily afford a decent hood. It's also a shame that the price of this lens has increased significantly since I bought it in May 2011 and is now much closer to the price of the Pentax

Fantastic lens. Yes, it does make a little noise, but if you can live with that then you won't live without this lens. It takes some really amazing photos. I've taken about 4000 shots with this lens and I'm very happy with the clarity of the photos. Even night shots of, say, the moon. I was amazed at the clarity I got from this lens paired with the Pentax K-30.
