Unmet Expectations

Like many other reviewers, I expected my mom and grandma to use Pyrex for years. My 1 cup measure is 32 years old and the label is still legible. I purchased this set after dropping my 2 cup measure on a ceramic tile floor. Imagine my surprise when I washed them in the dishwasher for the first time and the two cup measure was shattered into pieces. Dishwasher safe, right? Very disappointed in a once reliable product.

They drip/spill all over the place and the red spots are rubbing off

I give 2 stars because they fold, which I really like. I'm not sure what you can see in the photos, but the red measurement marks started to disappear immediately. However, I put them in the dishwasher. Also, the spouts are deformed or too small because the liquid will spill out everywhere no matter you pour fast or slow. It's fine if you're pouring into a large bowl, but it's a real mess if you're trying to fill a bottle or something small, and it defeats the purpose of measuring if it spills.

The new glass recipe is unsafe for many conventional kitchens.

This is no longer Corning's Pyrex with borosilicate safety glass for the kitchen. Corning sold the rights to this product, and for sale in America it is made in China from cheap, unbreakable soda-lime glass (the blue tint on the top distinguishes it from borosilicate glass). If you want safety glass in your kitchen, take PYREX (name in capital letters) from France, which is still borosilicate glass. Remarks. The open handles allow for stacking but are not long enough for a secure grip. Keep…

Not the same Pyrex: measuring tools and scales

I bought these earlier this year and at first I thought they were fine but I spilled a lot of liquid I thought I was but then I did I noticed a new set of cups running down the rim of the cup. Especially the four cup sizes. I thought I did something wrong or held wrong, watered too fast etc. Then I came here to see if anyone else had a problem and there they are! Yay!, it's not just me. Boo, Pyrex, your quality and reputation is now ruined in our house. They clearly did something to change the…

There is nothing better than Pyrex

I learned Pyrex in chemistry class. Since then I've been using Pyrex. I spotted this deal on four Pyrex mugs. These mugs are almost impossible to break. I already have some at home since I've been using them since chemistry class. We have tile in the kitchen. I don't know if I was lucky but my wife dropped our mug several times and it didn't break. She's a bit clumsy, but don't tell her I said that because I'd say it's a lie. But they thrive in high and low temperatures. They resist boiling…

upset. Great design but can only be hand washed

I like the size of the measuring cup and the easy to read markings. However, unlike old quality Pyrex, one mark on my measuring cup has already faded (see photo). The measuring cup has only been put in the dishwasher a few times; I mostly hand washed. I have a 10 year old Pyrex measuring cup that goes in the dishwasher all the time; all labels are still readable. I'm really disappointed that when I spend more money on a well known brand I don't get what I paid for anymore. The lid was a bit…

4 cups don't pour well without making a mess.

I have a 4 cup pyrex measuring cup and need another one. I ordered a combo pack with a set of 4 measuring cups 2 1, 2 and 1 measuring cups work fine. Pyrex 4 Cup cannot be filled to the 4 Cup line without spilling all over the place when you try to pour it. I figured maybe I was pouring too fast or just being careless so I kept refilling it and you just can't pour 4 cups out of this pyrex without it dripping down the wall. There's no way to flip it or flip it again to stop the mess. It's…

what happened to pyrex. This isn't the old Pyrex, the design has changed and you should read it. Replacing old mugs with a worn print. The ability to cast without spilling is gone. I brew hot tea, strain it into a large measuring cup, and then pour it into cups. Hot, hot, spilled mess dripping everywhere. Don't worry I can get it right, I'll try again tomorrow. Three mornings in a row, three big wet messes and a few burns to sweeten the deal. I'd recommend looking elsewhere if you need to pour…
