Didn't work for me. Definitely not"universal". I have fairly standard walls/stairs. I would have to remove the hardwood paneling around the base of the wall for this to work.

Perfect for our gates. One side is a railing and the other side is a wall so it was attached to the wall. Directions were easy to follow.

2 because I had to order 4 sets just to raise the gate. Not enough parts to complete the job. It is very uncomfortable on the upper and lower stairs.

Name and description are misleading. If you need this for both sides of your gate you will need to buy two packs! What a rip off! For $29 this little device should cover a full gate! Not on one side! If you need one side, you probably need the other as well, since most homes don't have baseboards on one side of a room or hallway. It just excites me.

The term 'kit' is quite misleading. "Kit" means it includes everything needed to install a child gate. In fact, however, this kit only contains materials for assembling one side of the children's gate. If you want to fully install a baby gate, you will need to purchase 2 sets, each at $30, which costs almost as much as the baby gate itself (or more than many other baby gates).
