Xg16 and Aquatia 10gbe. Works the first time

I have a lot of ubiquitous stuff and am always suspicious of using third party NICs, especially with SFP+, because they are so finicky. I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. I use a Ubiquiti UniFi XG-16 and an Aquantia 10gbe adapter and it was an instant fit. I communicate with him only on 1gb. Sad. Known issue with previous XG-16's (I have version 6) so I wanted to be sure and rule out an adapter or cable so I decided to try this cheaper option to confirm. Definitely a problem with the…

Works with UDM Pro and 2.5Gbps Ethernet modem

Spectrum currently has Gigabit Ethernet service (940 Mbps) deployed with a margin of up to 1.2 Gbps. This module worked great with no configuration required in my UDM Pro. The Spectrum modem (both EU2251 and ET2251, I just got rid of the latter - hooray!) auto-negotiates 2.5 Gb/s, and UDM displays the channel as 10,000 Mb/s. Overall very happy with it. As other reviewers have said, it gets a little warm but you won't get burned.

  • Absolutely amazing!

Exactly what I needed!

Can't say much other than this is exactly what I wanted and it works great. Note that I plugged this into a 10G port and it showed up when the other side was hardcoded to 5000Mbps (5Gbps). The device probably just doesn't know how to report the speed in Megagb so it only said 10Gb/s but the other side was fine at 5Gb/s, traffic went through fine so there was no problem. Definitely on my supplier list!

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Long delivery time

These SFPs are great I won't be using anything else now. I have the original EA UDMP with two SFP ports blocked at 10GB. With one of these WAN2 SFP+ I can get my 1GB ONT connection over RJ45 while on the other SFP+ port I use one of them to connect with 10G over RJ45 to a USW+ POE Gen2 switch. Remove speed limit. I also use them to connect the USW to Mikrotik in another part of the house that also has one of these SFP+ adapters - 10g cat.5e. You will not regret it. Other 10g RJ45 SFP+ adapters…

5/2.5/1G speeds require 10G SFP ports!

The name/description of this item is misleading. It says that the device will operate at 5G/2.5G/1G speeds in addition to 10G. HOWEVER (and I noticed this), the SFP port on your switch MUST support 10G before the module downgrades it to lower speeds. This is not specifically mentioned. The description sounds like you can use it directly on a 5G, 2.5G or 1G port, which does NOT work. I tried using two of these to connect a Cisco SG500-52P switch to a Cisco SG500-28P switch. Use of 5G SFP ports…

Pros
  • So far so good
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

I bought this to connect to a 2.5gb ethernet USB to manufacture adapters (RT8156 chipset). The connection speed was correct and the transfer speed was great. The reception speed only reached 600 Mbps. I even connected to a 1Gbps ethernet connection and was only able to get 600Mbps with this transceiver. All tests were performed with iperf3. I am returning this device for another brand with hopefully better support for getting 1/2.5/5GB. I tried this on two different switches with the same…

Good product, good price, good seller

So far this SFP+ module has worked as expected. I chose this particular brand based on the higher manufacturer rating and the price seemed to match the rating. I am using Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro as my WAN 2 interface. Connected to 1Gbps with no fuss or programming, and I'm pretty sure it would connect at 10Gbps if I had another interface to work with. Also, the seller seems keen on providing quality customer service even if the translations are a bit wrong, so I'm sure I'll buy again if the…

Works as expected in network transceivers

Plugged into an SFP+ port on a UniFi Dream Machine Pro and connected to a Netgear CM2000 2.5GBaseT Ethernet port. I am now getting a good 1380Mbps throughput on my wired internet. Initially when connecting, UDMPro did not see any communication with the CM2000. I had to disable auto-negotiation and explicitly set the 10G speed to UDMP. Since then it has worked flawlessly.
