🔍 MerCruiser & Inboard Engines Oil Filter - Quicksilver 866340Q03 Review

I bought this for my 1985 Mercruiser 260 Inboard (at Century Resorter). The external filter mount for this engine is located just forward of the left hand valve cover and the filter needs to be short enough to remove - very little clearance. This article completes the bill.

I received the wrong part, it was not pictured from Quicksilver, I received an equivalent part from Mercury, not sure if there is a difference in quality but the part fit. I will not be buying from this seller again as I would prefer the item pictured and described.

I have a 2005 Mercruiser 4.3L and this will not fit although the description says it will. The filter diameter was too big. I used a WIX 35106 oil filter from a local auto parts store and it worked great. This filter may be for newer models but should be clearer. I was in the middle of an oil change when I had to run to the store.

When I took this filter out of the box I immediately saw that it had been previously installed, cross-threaded and returned with sawdust in the filter. Are these used or what? I was about to change the boat oil but I have to wait for the new filter to come. The boat is without oil and cannot be used unless I use my old filter.
