not what I was hoping for

I live in an old house with turned and plastered walls and ceilings on the ground floor. I bought this in the hope that it would be better at finding nails/studs than other devices I've tried. While this worked somewhat, it didn't stick to the nails like I had hoped, so finding the studs was harder than I had hoped. It worked great on my renovated second floor which had drywall, but I was disappointed to find studs in the old plaster walls. If you're buying it for that purpose I wouldn't highly

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Security

The world's most reliable stud finder

I've always been so frustrated with false positives when using regular stud finders. Now my old ones are used because I only use these. I use them to find screws in drywall over wood frames in combination with my vertical line laser. I leave the magnet attached to the screw and then use the laser to create a template with tape to help determine the position of built-in closets, the position of railing brackets, and more. The best and easiest idea. And the rubber sleeve prevents marking on the…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Great little gadget, worth the money

This is the coolest gadget. I have a toolbox full of spike finders, but they're not very accurate on metal spikes. The competitor's magnetic stud finder doesn't work either. The thing works great. I roll it against the wall and feel where each side of the metal pin is. It takes a little practice to get the feel of it, but once you get the hang of it, you'll realize it's a metal-spiked game changer. I've used it with wooden studs but it takes a little longer to find the screws. Personally, I'll…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • I have no particular complaints about it, everything is fine

Powerful and easy to use.

My only complaint is the lack of instructions for use. The ball sticks to the wall, hit the ball with a hammer with moderate force and make a small dent in the wall. Remove the ball and use the angle of the hammer claw to gently dig into the wall to expose the screw/nail. Now use the appropriate tool to remove the screw/nail. Repeat this process over the entire area where you want to remove screws/nails. When you are finished you can cut out part of the wall panel to give access to the inside…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Works as advertised - easy to use

If you use it as a mandrel finder it is very easy to use. You just run the magnet along the wall until you hit a screw/nail and there is your stud. The magnet sticks to the wall. The magnet is strong and we literally store it by magnetizing it on the wall. I was using it specifically to remove a wall and wanted to easily remove the drywall screws rather than making a big mess with the drywall by snapping it. . It worked very well and was very easy to use. We marked the screws in the wall and…

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Doubtful

By far the best spike finder I have ever used for finding the centers of metal spikes. I've used many other neodymium magnets and any of them are good for finding the bar, but they're not accurate enough for finding the center and unprotected magnets leave marks on the walls. The spherical shape of this magnet allows you to move the magnet around to see where it sticks best and place it right in the middle. The magnet is strong enough to stick to a steel rod through 5/8" thick drywall. It will…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Some issues
