Doesn't fit out of the box.

Longtime Ram fan, but not very happy about it. The tolerances on my product are crappy at best. The holes are literally too small for a U-bolt to fit through. I don't mean tight, I mean too small. I'm sure I'll find something to grind it with, but wow. The item in question came with an insert card stating that while they are required to remain made in the US, demand means making things abroad. I can't pinpoint why my parts don't match right away, but that can't help.

Handlebar accessory could be better good

It is well built and works great once installed but the installation was not that pleasant. First, the plastic spacer won't stay in place and will slip when tightening the nuts. The second problem was that the clearance between the nuts and the ball joint was too small to use a socket wrench to tighten. I managed to tighten it with the extension tube, but then it was impossible to remove the bushing without using force. These are small problems, but equally simple problems that can be solved if

Ideal for mounting BMW K1600GT!

I have been using RAM mounts on my motorcycles and vehicles for several years and have never been disappointed. At first I was disappointed when I thought I wouldn't be able to fit a RAM ball on my new K1600GT. The only option seemed like a $150 aluminum sphere, which could then be outfitted with RAM accessories. Then someone on the Iron Butt Association forum said that this little guy would work between two aluminum bars connecting the handlebar clamps. Naturally! The rubber on the bottom as…

The rearview mirror will make you dance!

I used this to attach a Ram Mount X-Grip phone holder to the rear view mirror in my truck. I had this on my last truck but forgot to remove it when I lost the truck. My old truck (2008 F-350) never gave me any problems. My new truck (2015 F-250) now has a dancing mirror. It really is. I rarely use my rear view mirror as I mostly tow and rely on my phone for directions around every turn. This will work for me. If you use it for your rearview mirror and want to use the function of your rearview…

Ideal for motorcycles

I have mounted this on the handlebars of a motorcycle and together with the dual socket short arm and X-grip it holds my phone securely while riding. I've tried it on rough roads, fast roads and fast rough roads and it always stayed in place. (I put a cable around and over the phone case just in case, but it didn't move once.) I glued the rubber tips to the X-Grip as the instructions suggested if I wanted to use it on rough terrain. During installation, I placed a strip of non-slip toolbox…

Missing part best in accessories

I bought this a year ago to mount a GoPro on my helicopter. Even before the mount arrived, I realized that the tube I was planning to mount it to had leather trim along the top edge to protect the occupants. No problem, I use RAM mounts for everything and I have a box full of used and unused mounts waiting for my next project. Fast forward to this week, I bought a new bike and figured this mount might be the ticket to getting my X-Grip on the handlebars. I went to the box, found the bag with…

The brace is junk: handlebar accessory

The adjustable system itself is great. The U-Bolt system didn't suit me. The Space wasn't very durable and didn't work well on my handlebars. I even bought an extra U-bolt to easily switch the mount between motorcycle and quad. Both times the installation was disappointing and the place didn't stay in place. When I first installed it, I figured that if I tightened the screws enough, the bracket would stay in place. Instead of working the gasket slipped back and forth, when I finally got it…

Solid mount on a Trek DS 8.5 bike

I use three of these U-bolt RAM mounts on a Trek DS 8.5 hybrid bike. Although the 31.8mm handlebars are tapered rather than fixed in diameter, I was able to easily tighten this mount with the smaller of the two U-bolts. The larger 1.5" shackle also fits snugly in the thickest part of the 31.8mm handlebar. The V-groove on the bottom of the bracket, combined with the U-bolt, makes it easy to tighten round surfaces of increasing diameter. I use it to hold a Garmin Oregon 450, Samsung Galaxy Player
