Description of ๐Ÿ”Œ Rankie DisplayPort to DisplayPort Cable: Enjoy 4K Resolution Clarity - 6 Feet, Black

The 6 feet cable connects a DisplayPort (DP) enabled computer to a HD monitor or projector with DisplayPort port input for audio and video streaming. (Note: NOT compatible with 144Hz video display). The gold-plated conductors resist corrosion and increase connectivity. The inner braided foil shielding reduces interference and improves signal quality. Supports video resolutions up to 4K (3840x2160, Ultra HD) and 1080P (Full HD), and flawless audio pass-thru for uncompressed digital 7.1, 5.1 or 2 channels. The DP connector has a latch to provide secure connection with the port. Press the latch down before unplugging the connector. Suitable for Extended Desktop or Mirrored Displays.

Doesn't work on 4k

This is the advertised @4k compatibility but using my Samsung E28D590 I couldn't get a resolution higher than 2560x1440 and even then it was buggy. When changing to a different cable, the problem disappeared. If you just want to run a 1080p display that's fine, but if you want 4k you'll get something else - watch out for the DP version it claims and try to get one that supports DisplayPort 1.4 compatible, even if it may seem excessive. and costs a few euros more.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • Some minor issues

DO NOT USE! in Audio and Video Accessories

These Displayport cables are NOT VESA compliant. PIN 20 ACTIVE! This cable sends 3.3V on pin 20 from the monitor back to your GPU. This can kill the GPU over time. Most integrated GPUs will detect this and your motherboard will not send a message. If you already have this cable or want to test your current one, you can turn off your computer and a fan or two will continue to spin or the LEDs will dim as the monitor feeds power back to your system. If you unplug the cable, it stops.

Pros
  • Same as everything before

Exactly what I needed.

These cables are hard to find. Everyone has a couple of HDMI cables but no Displayport cable. It worked great. Update 3/10/17 After several months of use, a black screen began to appear as if the signal had completely disappeared. A random event that only occurs for a few seconds. All drivers are up to date, monitor self-test finds no problems. The monitor was also brand new so I am trying to use a monitor with both VGA and Displayport input to see if I have the same drops. The locking mechanism is poorly designed

The cables appear to work well when I connected them to a monitor for testing. The problem is that the locking mechanism and latch are too tight to unlock. When the DisplayPort cable is connected to the monitor vertically, you don't have room to grip on either side, allowing you to apply the gigantic pressure required to unlock the mechanism. You should have placed the latch on the sides, not the top/bottom. At this speed, I'm concerned that this cable will damage the connectors on my graphicsโ€ฆ

I started using this on my Acer B6 Series B286HK (running 4k) and then gradually started having problems. The monitor turns on and off for about 5 seconds every 5-7 minutes. I didn't think it was the cable as I had just bought the monitor off ebay. I just reconciled myself and resigned myself to having a defective monitor. Then one day I couldn't take it anymore. I did a little research and found that CHEAP displayport cables usually have this type of defect. I switched DP cables from my second

Good cable for the price

The cable works very well on my curved 27 inch Samsung monitor (also works well on my 4k monitor). The material is quite high quality and I had no problems connecting it to a monitor or PC. You have to press the tabs very hard to pull them out, but I like it as it makes my connection more secure. This product really works as advertised. Pros: - Sturdy cable (might be a win-win for people who have to turn around to get to their PC, but it works fine for me). The monitor is on a swivel mount andโ€ฆ

Bad experience with signal drop

I bought this Rankie DisplayPort cable to connect my graphics card to my monitor. At that price it was cheap and seemed like an easy purchase. At first it worked and gave the monitor a 1080p signal so I could get the output. However, when I moved my computer or adjusted the monitor, the signal dropped intermittently, regardless of whether the computer was on (the monitor stopped receiving a signal from the computer). To restore the signal I would have to unplug the cable and plug it back inโ€ฆ
