Useful product! Previous rating

Pros: - 24-bit resolution - Assembled construction feels solid - Easy to use once you know what to do Cons: - Documentation definitely needs some work. - I don't seem to be getting the full range - SETUP documentation certainly needs some work. It roughly describes how to set things up in C, but often says "just go to google to understand that part" (I think that was mostly due to the hassle of translating the technical instructions), or a step said me to try run"make" in a folder that doesn't…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires socket

Good value for money

Good value for money. However, the board is not very accurate, especially on the D/A side due to the lack of an accuracy standard. There is sample C code but no Python support, I had to write my own Python drivers for it. The two resistors were swapped, which worried me that this might stress the Raspberry Pi3.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Ok

Doesn't work close to specs.

This is a disaster. Neither ADC nor DAC correspond to the declared properties. The DAC is equivalent to a very noisy 6-bit DAC (not 16-bit); The ADC is better, but still often fails at a fixed input voltage. I have 3 of these and all are bad. They're just not good enough to work in my application. The manufacturer clearly got a bunch of bad silicon and didn't test it very well (or whatever). The manufacturer did not respond to my complaint.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Some bugs

Good board, best in the Computers & Accessories category

I just launched mine. I would get 5 stars if the documentation was a bit better, but using their documentation in combination with the documentation for the TI chip works fine. correct registry settings. I also like having pins to test with, not just screw terminals. I use mine to measure amps and volts so I have two pins that measure 0-4 volts and two others that measure millivolts. My amp readings appear to be normal, even with low amp readings. My shunt is 0.0001 volts/amp. I don't use PGA…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Quality

Bad software and support

Adding this board to your Raspberry Pi is easy, but the software is something else. The Waveshare website has fairly detailed instructions on how to install the C++ and Python code for this board. While I had no trouble getting the C++ board to work, Python 2 and 3 weren't suitable. The more I searched the internet for code, the more I found different versions of guides on how to implement Python code. The guides on the Waveshare website, various resellers, and Github are varied and confusing…

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Nothing
