You may get 1 good use out of it.

Well I bought it for a holiday and the head fell off after the first use. Lo and behold (as others have pointed out), the filaments are so thin that after one use of the pan for about 10 minutes, they're almost completely worn out. I could unscrew the head and just take it off. As a MacGyver, I spent a good 45 minutes locating a hardware store (I'm on holiday in London mind you) to buy metal super glue (at £7!). As long as it seems to hold up, how long before it fails and I have to buy a new…

Great value for money

I really like this tripod. I used it for a photo shoot this weekend and it was very stable and easy to use. Pros: The spider legs that stabilize the tripod from the main stem are great. You can adjust them to give the tripod a smaller footprint when you are in a tight spot, which is very helpful. It's light but not flimsy at all. Leg locks are easy to use and secure. The swivel head is light and straight. Cons: The carrying case will not fit a tripod with a pan head attached. It's kind of a…

waste of money. go with someone else Edit - Excellent customer service.

Edit: Upgrading my rating from 1 to 3.5 stars. Ravelli's customer service has been exceptional since my review. They offered a different tripod (but it was too big/heavy for my needs) or a full refund. I have accepted the return. I really couldn't ask for better service. Very grateful for their customer service and hope their future product line will continue to improve and grow the business. ------ I stumbled upon this on the recommendation of Think Media. It was a poor record from them. I've…

This is a good solid tripod for amateur use

This is an edited review for this item. Pictures. First, photography is a hobby for me. I really like astronomical photography (night sky). This tripod traveled with me (from New York) to Northern Massachusetts, Puerto Rico, Chile, Argentina. The trip Chile-Argentina was long, with different means of transport. My tripod went in and out of my carry-on with no problems. That's great as I didn't do it and I didn't have to. I enjoyed traveling without worrying about it spoiling (a very big plus…

Good for the price.

Good entry level tripod. It's a bit bigger than I imagined when fully undressed, which is definitely a plus. I like the aluminum legs over the plastic legs as they feel more solid yet lighter. I wish it had 3 leg extensions instead of 2 so it's a bit more compact when not lengthened but that's not a deal breaker and I think it was done to make the construction more solid. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is mainly due to the detachable base that the camera connects to. It's a great…

Was good until it broke.

The tripod was very affordable and had excellent reviews. I didn't use it very often, but it worked fine when I needed it. Just today I pulled it out of the carry case, tried to spread the legs and 1 leg fell off. The plastic hinge/hinge at the top of leg 1 broke, and the rivet connecting the leg to the central shaft broke. I bought it about 3 years ago, probably only used it a dozen times. I will contact Ravelli. It looks like the tripod carries a 10 year guarantee. SUBSEQUENT CHANGES My…
